Hawaii County police have launched a homicide investigation in Puna after a man was shot in Nanawale Estates early Saturday morning.
HPD Lt. Rio Amon-Wilkins said in release that shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, Puna patrol officers responded to the intersection of Nanawale Boulevard and Seaview Road after receiving a report of a shooting.
Responding officers discovered the victim’s lifeless body in the intersection of the roadway, surrounded by family members.
Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation, which is classified as a second-degree murder.
Lt. Amon-Wilkins said investigators have not yet identified a suspect or motive in the killing.
The victim was identified by police as Junio Resun, 36, of Nanawale.
