“Magnum P.I.,” a filmed-in-Hawaii reboot of the 1980s hit series starring Tom Selleck, has been canceled after four seasons on CBS.
The news was first reported by Deadline.
Work on Season 4 ended on Oahu earlier this month.
It appears the reboot, which starred Jay Hernandez, will be the most-watched broadcast series to go off the air this summer.

Hernandez, as Thomas Magnum, played a a private investigator and former Navy SEAL who solved crimes in Hawaii after returning home from Afghanistan.
The series also starred Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill.
It also gave many Hawaii-based actors an opportunity to work on a Hollywood production without having to leave Oahu.

The decision to cancel production was reportedly a “business decision” that was made after “lengthy and complex talks” between Universal Television and the network, according to Deadline.
“Magnum” is the only one of five Universal shows to get the axe; the other four received multi-season renewal deals.
